Industrial & Hazardous Waste Corrective Action Program (IHW)
The Corrective Action Program oversees the cleanup of properties affected by chemical impacts related to industrial or municipal wastes and facilitates closure of waste management units. Investigation activities primarily focus on cleanup of areas affected by chemical spills or waste management units.
What they’re saying
Cleanup activities could include excavation and proper disposal of affected soils at a TCEQ permitted landfill and removing or filling waste management containment structures, where applicable. Cleanup activities could also include risk-based evaluations, performing sub-surface investigations via installation of soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells to allow for collection of soil and groundwater samples in areas that have been affected by chemical spills or used for waste management units.
Successful completion of cleanup activities or closure of waste management units results in the Corrective Action Program issuing a No Further Action (NFA) letter.
Industries that conduct environmentally sensitive activities on properties that could be suitable for regulation under the Corrective Action Program for chemical spills or closure of waste management units include industrial and manufacturing facilities, auto repair facilities, and dry cleaners.
